Fiberglass used in automobile
In the field of automobile manufacturing, the importance of energy conservation in the carbon-neutral automobile industry has further increased. Whether traditional automobiles reduce the weight of the car body to achieve energy saving and emission reduction, or new energy sources are more sensitive to the weight of the car body due to their limited battery capacity. Car weight reduction is key. By comparing various materials, glass fiber has the highest comprehensive cost performance and can be used in front-end modules, engine hoods, new energy vehicle battery protection boxes, composite leaf springs, instrument panels, bottom guards, door panels, fenders, and side skirts. Glass fiber reinforced composite materials can be used more in other parts, which can effectively reduce the quality of the entire vehicle, and have a significant effect on reducing the fuel consumption of fuel vehicles and increasing the cruising range of new energy vehicles. According to the weight reduction targets mentioned in the "Technical Roadmap for Energy Saving and New Energy Vehicles" compiled by the China Society of Automotive Engineers as the basis for calculation, it is estimated that the amount of modified plastics used in new energy vehicles in 2025 will increase from 163 kg/unit in 2019 to 247 kg/unit, assuming that the glass fiber composite material in the modified plastic accounts for 50%, and the marginal glass fiber increment of each vehicle is 42kg. Assuming that the penetration rate of new energy vehicles reaches 40-50% in 2025, the overall vehicle sales will remain the same. 27 million vehicles, the increase in glass fiber demand will be 510,300 tons.
